Genealogy

In order to fulfill the Society’s mission to honor and remember those who cleared the land, grew the crops, educated the young, and pay homage to those who fought in the wars and sacrificed their lives for something they believed in, four Ancestral Certificates have been designed for your use upon completion of the Application:

Trailblazer (arrived in the area prior to Michigan Statehood: 31 Dec 1837)

Pioneer (1839-1870)

Settler (1871-1904)

Builder (1904-1937)

It is the Society’s desire to encourage basic knowledge of genealogical research and of the area’s rich history. Ursula Adamson serves as the Society's Historical Researcher. Her experience in genealogical research and her interest in the area makes her a great candidate for this task. She has many years of genealogy research, but her area of expertise is anything related to the German immigrants in the Richmond area. She has even travelled to Germany as a result of her research. So, if you have reached a roadblock in your research, need help with a German document, or have questions about the history of the area, Ursula is the person to contact. Her website, "Ursula's Genealogical Homepage" www.richmondmihistory.org focuses on, but is not limited to the following townships: Richmond, Lenox, Casco, and Columbus. All funds generated from her research for members are donated to the Society.
